Logan Byrnes, an Emmy award winning journalist, joined Fox Connecticut in 2008 to anchor the launch of the Fox Connecticut Morning News. After one year, strong ratings, and an Associated Press “Best Newscast” award, the weekday newscast was expanded by 2 1⁄2 hours each day from 4:30am to 9am.
Byrnes has covered a number of breaking news stories making national headlines including the arrest of Times Square bombing suspect and Connecticut resident Faisal Shahzad, and the Hartford Distributors mass workplace shooting which left 9 dead including the gunman. He also received widespread recognition for anchoring 8 1⁄2 hours of straight live storm coverage in which the state received more than 2 feet of snow in 12 hours, paralyzing much of the state. Byrnes has also anchored live coverage of The Hartford Marathon, Manchester Road Race, Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the gubernatorial debates. He can also be heard each morning giving radio news updates on News Talk 960 WELI.
Initially, setting his sights on a career in Law, Byrnes graduated from the University of Southern California, and then obtained his law degree from Whittier College School of Law. Prior to joining the Fox family, Byrnes was a correspondent for the nationally syndicated news program “Inside Edition.” Using his legal expertise, he covered a number of high-profile trials including those involving Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson, and Robert Blake. He also provided in depth reports on Arnold Schwarzenegger's run for Governor of California. Byrnes was also a frequent correspondent on the red carpet, reporting on The Academy Awards, The Golden Globes, The Emmys, The Grammys, and many other award and celebrity events. He has interviewed numerous Hollywood celebrities including Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Alec Baldwin, and Christina Aguilera.
Byrnes has also contributed as an anchor on NBC’s “Early Today” and MSNBC’s “First Look” as well as providing various reports for CNBC’s “High Net Worth.” While at NBC Connecticut, Byrnes anchored the number one morning news cast for several years. During that time, he covered the 9/11 terror attacks live from New York, and the Greenwich murder trial of Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel.
Naturally outgoing and adventurous, Byrnes has traveled around the world, visiting such countries as Italy, France, Turkey, Israel, India, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Mexico, and Canada. He has gone skydiving, helicopter skiing, participated in a number of triathlons and run a marathon. He is also a certified ski instructor and enjoys remodeling homes.
